There are a few things that I thought I would write about! First off, there has been a new rule change! Missionaries are now allowed to email priesthood officers in their wards. Well, the next thing they said made the first statement unnecessary. Lol... They said that we can email everyone. (Within reason). The only stipulation is you need permission to email members of the opposite sex living within or close to mission boundaries. And not to focus too much on emailing. So, even though I suspect that this will only slightly increase the volume of communication that I have, you all have no excuse to not write me. Lol... Oh, and missionaries can email missionaries, just as long as they are not in the same mission boundaries or close to it. The purpose of this is to provide easier uplifting support to everyone to encourage missionary work. So, yeah. I will get on that. :-)
Another thing! Missionaries get their calls on Thursdays to go up to Auckland on Friday if they are training a new missionary. Well, I didn't get called, but our car went up there! Lol... Holy Smokes. We had to wake up early in the morning. The People Hamilton woke up at around 5 am. The people in other Zones had to stay at missionaries flats so that they didn't have to drive 6 hours at once. Lol... So, we had two Elders from Tauranga staying with us. The next morning, I took one of those elders to Huntly to meet all of the other elders and sisters going up for the training. Well, it was too early. Then we had a tradeoff. I went with the Zone Leader, E. Atalifo, and we worked in his area. It took ages to get all of the other elders and sisters down to their areas in Hamilton, but it was a good day. The sisters are just about 4ft. They are Philipino, and it's absolutely the most funny thing to see them bike, because they are so short, they look like girls riding their bikes home from school. On the plus, no one could possibly get mad at them. Lol...
In E. Atalifo's area, we were able to see a lot of people that are set for baptism in the Zone. It was cool. :-) We also did service: picking blueberries. Lol...
Transfers is this Thursday! This transfer was a short one. Only 3 weeks. We don't know if either of us is going, but we do know that we are not both going. At least one of us is staying. I hope I stay here, because we have so much lined up! It's awesome!
Well, I don't really have heaps of time, which is not the best, but that's okay.
I wish to relate the parable of the two fishermen.
Missionary work can be likened unto to men gone fishing. One of the men casts out his line and feels tugs on his line. So he hauls the fish in with as much speed as he can, and he catches a nice fat, fluffy, juicy fish. The second man also feels some tugs on his line. Well, he thinks he has it all sussed (worked out), so he takes his time. Well, when he draws in his catch, he finds a gorgeous fish. Well, only half of a fish. Bitten in half by a shark. He didn't draw in his fish fast enough, and his catch has no value. The fish in the water, when it is caught, realizes that it is at the end of it's life, so it struggles in the hope of breaking free. For the first man, he accounted for this and gave the fish less time to tire him out and less time to thrash around. The second man took his time. The heart rate of the fish accelerates. Sharks sense when fish are agitated, and they pursue. If you don't draw in the line fast enough, the shark will reach your fish, and it will eat part of your fish, making it useless. We can apply this. Satan, the shark, will pursue the "catch" (the investigators or the Less Actives) and try to get them before they have a chance to be a disturber to his kingdom. Prior to your hooking them, they are not a threat to Satan, so he doesn't worry about them. But soon they start to feel the effects of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. They feel the spirit, and Satan realizes he is about to lose one of his captives. But if we do all of the right things, fast enough, then Satan will not have enough time to get to them and destroy the seed that is planted inside of their hearts. So, draw in your catch quickly.
By the way, I took that story from E. Atalifo and modified it to make it more applicable.
Love you all. I am absolutely terrible at remembering to take pictures, so I still have none, but oh well! :-)
Love,
E. Staheli
P.S. Email me! Because now you can, and I will respond! :-D
